One of the equestrian apparel names that we, here at Edgemere, love is Pikeur! This is a name that all equestrians know, but what about how it all started? Now that’s something that we felt was worth having a little dig about to find out more!
So, let’s start at the beginning …
A name you won’t be familiar with is, H. W. Meyer, this company actually dates back as far as 1899 and started life as the producer of uniforms and work attire, not something you’d associate with equestrian clothing. However in 1957 when Franz-Heinrich Meyer took over following the untimely death of his father, his passion for horses led him to found the firm Haefner & Co, producing made-to-measure riding attire based at Uchte, Germany. This made Haefner & Co the first riding clothes company for industrial riding fashion!
Going from strength to strength in 1964 the decision was made to change the companys’ name from Haefner & Co to that name we all know and love so much … Pikeur!
In 1977 Michael Meyer, the eldest son of Franz-Heinrich, decided to start his own company, Eskadron, but unlike Pikeur Michael focused on equipment for the horse as opposed to the rider.
From that date to this Pikeur has grown and grown and is now a world leader in the equestrian apparel field, constantly producing riding attire of the highest standard.
Here at Edgemere we are proud to offer the Pikeur range, which literally can be worn from toe to head! Not only is Pikeur renowned for providing high quality and innovative attire, but attire that is suitable for everyone and every occasion too! From the Pikeur Kanita Premium Collection Ladies Show Jacket through to the Pikeur Long Boot Sock one thing you can always count on is the highest attention to detail and the best, most innovative materials available, not forgetting cutting edge fashion!
To sum Pikeur up … We love them!
