Caprice a 7 year old Belgian Warmblood Showjumper owned by Lucy Duns.
Says Lucy 'Caprice is a typical chestnut mare who can be a bit temperamental and highly strung. There has never been any doubt about her ability or her potential, she's always jumped very well albeit a little erratically.
When we bought her she had always been fed haylage so initially we continued to feed it. After a while we took her off haylage and while this certainly calmed her down, it appeared to affect her jumping and she began knocking poles. We then saw Haylage Balancer advertised so we decided we'd reintroduce haylage into her diet and feed her Haylage Balancer too.
Caprice's performance improved hugely. She started to jump clear again but in a far more steady and controlled manner. So much so that she got a mention and photo in Scottish and Northern Equestrian. She also seems generally happier and not so 'edgy'.' So a success all round!
Polly a 13.3hh 14 year old part bred Welsh pony owned by Erin Rowan.
Polly had suffered with loose droppings whilst being fed haylage. Erin fed a feed balancer which had worked for a while, but her droppings started to become loose again as Haylage appeared too rich for her.
Erin then introduced hay into her diet instead. Polly developed a nasty wheeze and cough even when the hay was soaked. This caused Erin to question which was better for her pony.
In November Erin was reading the Horse and Hound and came across our advert for Haylage Balancer, she spoke to one of our representatives and Polly sounded like a perfect case to give it a try.
Says Erin 'I bought a tub and can't believe the difference it's making! I'm half way through my second tub, so I've given it a good try before sending this email! With all the cold weather we've been having here in the North West Polly had been unable to go out, so has been eating 20lb's of haylage a day and her droppings have been firm! I'm so happy; hopefully this will help throughout the summer months when we're showing as there is nothing worse than a grey pony with a dirty tail!!
Now Polly has the perfect balance - her stable is far cleaner, she looks great and appears to be very happy again.
Ivy and JJ
Natalie runs a busy livery yard with a good mix of everything from youngsters to old age pensioners, and hairy ponies to competition animals.
Says Natalie, “The yard is on a simple diet of haylage and mainly straights. I wanted something to balance the diet that would suit everyone and keep things simple for me. NAF advised Haylage Balancer, it seemed to suit my needs, so I put the whole yard on it.
We’re now on our second month and I’m thrilled with it. Everyone is looking really well, with a shine on their coats and great condition. There were a couple with particular needs, such as Ivy who as an elderly lady dropped weight last winter and, worryingly, started to do the same again at the end of this summer. Since being on Haylage Balancer she’s put the condition back on, looks fab and is in regular work. Also JJ, who was always prone to being “loose” on haylage, but I’ve not seen any of that since being on Haylage Balancer.
I’ve even noticed that I’m reducing the amount of hard feed fed, as condition is being maintained so well. I’m happy to recommend Haylage Balancer to any yard wanting to simplify feed time, sort out haylage “issues” and keep hard feed costs down.”
