The Chifney is also known as an anti rearing bi. This is a horse bit designed for handling stronger horses and ponies from the ground. The Chifney attaches to a sliphead or headpiece, therefore is easy to put on or take off. With a single loose ring for the lead rope to attach to at the back of the horses chin.
The thin bit with V shaped mouth applies pressure to the horses tongue should the horse try to rear or pull, and can be very effective. The Chifney bit should only be used by experienced equestrian people as if used incorrectly can be too strong.
