What to wear for Hunting

Our what to wear on the hunting field guide. Talks you through everything for you and your horse to wear.  Keeping you looking smart, warm and dry for a day out hunting.

The Rider looks clean and smart with minimal detail and no sparkle.

Let’s start from the top.¬† With protecting your head with a Riding Hat – Our preference is a Jockey Helmet.¬† Therefore a hat without a peak.¬† Such as the Charles Owen J3¬†Jockey Skull .¬† This is usually accompanied by a Velvet hat cover.¬† This provides you with a traditional and smart look.¬† Along with a safe protection of your head.

The Rider would wear a traditional tweed jacket.  Or adults can wear Navy or Black Hunting Coats.  A Hunt Shirt would be worn with a stock.  The stock has become traditional dress for Eventing and hunting.  This also has another feature.  The stock is worn as protection and support for the riders neck. The rider would wear beige breeches.  A popular choice for ladies is the Tallyho Aylesbury breeches .  They provide a waterproof outer to keep your legs dry.  The inner is fleece lined.  Helping to keep your legs warm through out the cold Winter days.  The full sea provides a secure grip in the saddle.

Footwear РThe rider would wear plain long riding boots.  Or a pair of smart short riding boots and half chaps.  A popular choice is the Ariat Contour Dress Long Riding Boots.  A plain fronted long riding boots with a secure zip up the back.  The stretch panel alongside the zip provides a smart and elegant fit.

The horse wears plain and minimal tack.¬† Traditionally the horse wears a Brown or Black Sheepskin Numnah.¬† Such as the Lemieux Half Lined Numnah.¬† These excellent numnah’s provide the horse with protection through his back.¬† The Sheepskin offers cushioning and comfort.¬† A traditional Hunting breastplate is worn.¬† This provides a neck strap for those emergency situations.
